It remains a somewhat murky strain of Christianity that a lot of people still don’t completely understand, myself included, and one of the big mistakes that has been made with this movement is to lump them in with the whole of the Evangelical movement, which is destructive enough on its own, but which is relatively less dangerous than this new sect.

Rick Santorum gave a speech after the Iowa caucus that’s received a lot of attention. Unfortunately, the news media and most pundits have completely missed the fabricated history Santorum uses to weave his little tale and the unintended revelations that would be exposed had Santorum’s story been checked against the history books.

GOP presidential candidate Mitt(ens) Romney is under fire from his fellow conservative opponents and liberals today after the former corporate raider made remarks before a New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce gathering that he likes “being able to fire people who provide services to me.”

Teabaggers Jackie and Dunlap watched the New Hampshire debate on Saturday, then woke up and ‘they was another damn debate on tv again. It was like a nightmare from which there was no waking.’

On this day:
1979 – U.S. Supreme Court strikes down (6-3) a Pennsylvania law requiring doctors performing an abortion to try to preserve lives of potentially viable fetuses.

As if there were not already a million reasons to love and admire this woman. Rep. Gabby Giffords led a large crowd in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance during a candlelight memorial in Tucson on Sunday.

On this Day — 1978 – Harvey Milk was sworn in as the first openly gay member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Milk sponsored a civil rights bill that outlawed sexual orientation discrimination, which passed and became law.

Congress will have to be involved to overturn the 2010 Citizens United ruling. Four amendments were introduced to do just that in 2011, including one by Rep. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. In order for any of these to pass, however, two-thirds of lawmakers in both the house and senate must vote in favor of that change. It is a long, hard road.

What are the implications to Bachmann now that she has dropped out of the running? On Tuesday night, she finished in sixth place in Iowa. She says she prayed to God about entering the presidential race and that she got a sense from God about running.

Either God changed his mind or Michele was just hearing voices in her head.
